What is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon?
An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is a unique medical provider of Facial Cosmetic, Reconstructive and Oral Surgery. Many OMS doctors attend both medical and dental school in order to obtain a broad understanding of the facial region. This is followed by an internship in General Surgery and residency focused only on the facial region.
Dr. Guyette has additionally obtained extensive and ongoing training in Facial Cosmetic Surgery. We continually monitor new techniques and treatments and provide only those with proven track records and consistently good results.
Why should I have an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon perform my Facial Cosmetic Surgery?
There are now many well-trained surgeons from a variety of backgrounds who perform Facial Cosmetic Surgery. As with all endeavors, experience and training are the best determinants of good results. An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with unique training and perspective, is an excellent choice to perform Facial Cosmetic Surgery.
What type of anesthesia is best for my surgery?
Safety and patient comfort are the two most important criteria used to determine the type of anesthesia used for surgical procedures. Minor procedures can be effectively performed under local anesthesia with the patient completely awake. Most surgical procedures are performed utilizing Intravenous (IV) Sedation. This technique has been proven safe and comfortable over many years. Short procedures as well as surgeries last 3-4 hours are routinely performed with IV Sedation in most age groups. When necessary, your primary care physician is consulted to discuss medical issues that could be influenced by anesthesia. Occasionally, general anesthesia is preferred and can be performed in our office suite or in a hospital setting. Additionally, sedative medication can be given prior to arriving for those who are particularly anxious.
What role does skin care and The Medi-Spa play in our practice?
At the Guyette Facial & Oral Surgery Center, we are committed to providing the very best treatment solutions for functional and esthetic concerns of the facial region. As knowledge and technology have improved, there are an increasing number of effective non-surgical approaches available. We continually search for the least invasive, most comfortable treatments that achieve positive results. We have invested in the most advanced technologies available today. Cutera Nd: YAG laser, The Luminous Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photo Facial, and Power Peel Microdermabrasion are all technologies we provide and that have proven efficacy.
Our goal is to achieve dramatic results with your skin and help you maintain your skin after surgery. We also focus on the non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation, the treatment of Rosacea, acne, hair and vein reduction.
What non-surgical services do we provide?
We offer the full range of dermal fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm. We offer Botox, Dysport, as well as Laser treatment for a variety of skin conditions.
- We utilize the Carbon Dioxide Laser for removal of raised skin lesions and moles of various colors and types.
- The Cutera Nd: YAG laser is used for removal of red lesions, Rosacea, veins on the face and legs, permanent hair reduction and skin rejuvenation.
Where is surgery performed?
Most surgical procedures and all Medi-Spa treatments are performed in either of our state-of-the-art facilities. Dr. Guyette and his staff are trained, licensed, and certified in all procedures offered at our centers. When performing surgical procedures, safety, comfort, and convenience are the determinants used when deciding where to perform surgical procedures. At times, because of health issues or complexity of care, surgery is performed in the hospital. Dr. Guyette is on staff at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Shea, and Thompson Peak.
“On the night of my procedure, Dr. Guyette called me to see how I was feeling. I thought that was magnificent and it was greatly appreciated! I felt very cared for!” Gordon Stein
