Dr. Guyette performs Brow and Forehead Lifts to reposition fallen eyebrows and reduce ridges and furrows on the forehead, thus creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. This procedure is frequently performed in conjunction with other surgeries.

Before Surgery – The Consultation
Prior to surgery, we will evaluate your medical history in order to better understand your overall health. In addition, a complete examination of your eyes and face are made in order to take the most effective surgical approach. The amount, distribution and type of excess skin to be removed is carefully reviewed.
Dr. Guyette will provide you with pre-operative instructions that may include the elimination of specific drugs containing aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (Advil, Aleve, etc.) and Vitamin E several weeks before surgery to minimize excess bleeding. Antibiotics may also be prescribed to prevent infection.

Preoperative Instructions for Patients Undergoing Intravenous (IV) Anesthesia

- The patient may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six (6) hours prior to the appointment except to take your normal medication or medication prescribed by our office.
- A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home after the procedure.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle for 24 hours following anesthesia or for 4 hours after taking narcotic pain medication.
- Wear loose fitting clothing with short-sleeved shirts or sleeves, which can be rolled up past the elbow. Contact lenses, jewelry and dentures should be removed before the time of surgery.

The Surgery
After anesthesia, an incision is generally made across the top of the head from the front of one ear to the front of the other ear. The forehead and brows are elevated and excess skin is removed. The flap is then sutured. Newer techniques now allow us to perform Forehead Lifting through small incisions in the scalp by using an Endoscope and specialized instruments. This accelerates the healing process. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with other surgeries at our surgical facility.
Post-Operative Information
Antibiotics may be prescribed for several days following surgery. Sutures and surgical staples are generally removed within one week. Swelling and some bruising will occur, but should subside within a few weeks. Ice compresses and head elevation reduce swelling. Women will be allowed to use eye cosmetics 1 week after surgery. You can proceed with your normal daily activities within 1-2 weeks. Final results take several months to achieve.
