Mole Removal in Scottsdale and Avondale
Benign growths of the skin are removed from the face, neck, and chest area for a variety of reasons. At our Scottsdale and Avondale offices, Dr. Guyette is fully equipped to evaluate and treat benign growths of the skin. If skin cancer is suspected, the area is biopsied and sent for evaluation. After evaluating the skin lesions, Dr. Guyette will review options with you to determine the most appropriate cosmetic treatment.
There are many types of skin growths that occur. Most occur with age, exposure to the sun, and vary based on skin type and family history. Some skin conditions are chronic in nature, like eczema, and are best treated by a dermatologist. Others appear over time or are present since youth. If these skin growths do not change over time, they are most likely not cancerous. Some examples of these types of skin lesions are birthmarks, skin tags, moles, warts, freckles, and age spots. Large pores sometimes occur, can be unsightly, and can easily be removed with today's techniques.
If a skin growth is ulcerated or appears to heal then returns or is dark in color and appears to be changing color or shape, it should be evaluated for possible skin cancer. If there are concerns, a biopsy is recommended and proper treatment performed based on the pathology report. If you notice changes in your skin, see your dermatologist or Dr. Guyette.
When removing benign skin growths, the CO2 laser produces the best cosmetic results. The CO2 laser vaporizes the growth and unlike other techniques, such as cryotherapy (freezing), is extremely precise. Dr. Guyette frequently uses the CO2 laser to remove up to hundreds of small skin lesions on the same patient. Utilizing IV sedation in our licensed surgical facilities, removal of multiple skin growths can be quick, comfortable, and safe.
